The Krazy Argo Kids are running a contest through Feb. 25 where they’re inviting kids to share creative ways to save water and tips for using wastewater. The contest will be judged by a panel that includes Susan Germeraad, a Saratoga Union School District board trustee; City Councilman Rishi Kumar; Heidi McFarland from the Santa Clara Valley Water District; and Argonaut Principal Karen van Putten. Winners will receive cash prizes of $25, $50 and $100. Their next presentation on water conservation is on Feb. 17, 2 to 3 p.m. at the West Valley Branch Library, 1243 San Tomas Aquino Road, San Jose.

“When I see kids at the festival it’s like a seed that’s planted and will spread out,” Inserra said. “And for me, that’s the reason for this festival.”. Though this is the fourth year for the event, organizers are still struggling to make it sustainable. For the first time, they’ve received funding from the Regional Parks Foundation through a grant from Kaiser Permanente for Healthy Parks Healthy People, which covers some of the costs. Inserra hopes that many who see the value of what is being presented will make donations toward future festivals through the website.
